How to improve your visibility on LinkedIn and Indeed and make your Job Postings SEO friendly

You will find below a list of useful tips to make your Job Descriptions optimised for search engines and to make them more easily discovered when job seekers do job searches online on both LinkedIn and Indeed:

LINKEDIN:

 

 

On LinkedIn, the most important content from your job posting should be available in the "JOB TITLE" field and the "SKILLS & KEY QUALIFICATIONS" field of the JD:

 

- JOB TITLE:

To make sure candidates can find you easily on Linkedin, try to:

1) Make your job title in both ENGLISH & JAPANESE (so that your job appears when candidates search in English or Japanese).

2) Include specific KEYWORDS that job seekers would use for their search to find the job opportunity. 3) Make sure to use SPECIFIC KEYWORDS that help the candidate to understand quickly what the role is about. You should avoid acronyms or internal jargon that cannot be understood outside of your organisation.

4) When possible, please also include your COMPANY NAME in the job title (or at least in the "KEY QUALIFICATIONS" field). This will help your job posting to appear when people search for your organisation specifically.

 

BAD EXAMPLES:

- "Marketing Manager"

(Too vague and would be lost in search engines)

- "DCTO Coordinator"
(The use or acronym is only useful for internal use and has no benefit for candidates; in this case, it would be best to replace the job title with "Distribution Center Transport Operations Coordinator")

 

GOOD EXAMPLE: 

"HirePlanner - SaaS Recruiting Software - マーケティング・マネージャー (Marketing Manager)”.

This job title may look a bit long but it is so much more efficient to strengthen your candidate pipeline and increase your organic traffic over time.

 

 

- KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 

The more keywords and specific skills you can include in the “Key qualifications” field of your job description, the easier it will be for job seekers to find you when they search for jobs online on LinkedIn.

INDEED:

The most important content from your job posting should be displayed in the "JOB TITLE" field, the "JOB LOCATION", "SALARY DETAILS" and "JOB SUMMARY" field of the JD:

 

- JOB TITLE: 

Job titles should be the name of the particular job as it might appear on a business card, with no extra information. Leave clickbait out of titles.

- JOB LOCATION:

Please remember to specify the location of the job opportunity and make it specific.

- JOB SALARY: 

Please make sure to display the salary details (minimum salary required) to ensure your job posting is searchable on Indeed. Jobs that people find on Indeed should have hourly or salaried wages and may not cost the candidate anything to apply, interview and begin work. If you do not include salary details, your job posting may not appear on Indeed.

- JOB SUMMARY: 

Please Include your company name (In both English and Japanese) for better SEO. Also include relevant keywords that will help candidates to find you while searching (example: any keywords you think candidate will use when searching on Indeed, Google and other channels such as: jobs, career, company name, Japan, branding and job related vocabulary).

Types of posts that aren’t generally visible:

• Career fairs
• Franchise or training opportunities
• Multi-level marketing positions

Listings that prove misleading, compromise the job seeker experience or those which we are not convinced represent a “real” job may be made only selectively visible or removed from organic search results altogether.
